Description: This Kenyan coffee is an AA Top grade washed microlot from the Kiamaina wetmill. The Kiamaina wetmill is one of five wetmills operated by the Kiama Farmers Cooperative Society in Nyeri county. The co-op is made up of smallholder farmers who cultivate varieties of SL28, SL35, Ruiru 11 and Batian coffees at an average altitude of 1,700 MASL. The combination of fertile soil, seasonal rainfall, and high altitude provide the ideal climate for coffees characterized by high acidity, full body and ripe fruit flavors. Most coffees from Nyeri develop and mature slowly producing hard beans and a complex cup. We roasted this to a medium and tamed the acidity, but kept all that wonderful complexity. This cup starts off with notes of smoked pineapple, black currant, and sweet pound cake. Alongside its creamy mouthfeel and medium body, you pick up on notes of blueberry muffin, vanilla, and cane sugar. It finishes very smooth, with a subtle note of spiced punch, with its medium acidity lingering on the palate. This Kenya Kaimaina is a microlot and is part of our rotating series, so get it while you can!
