Roast Level: Light
Elevation: 1900-2100 MASL
Tasting Notes: Blueberry, Berry Jam, & Earl Grey
Description: This is a grade 1, natural/dry processed lot from the Chelelektu wetmill in the Kochere district of the Gedeo zone. The mill is managed by Legese Kebede, and processes cherries from around 650 local smallholder farmers. These farmers typically cultivate less than 2 hectares of land. The farms range between 1,900 - 2,100 MASL, and are some of the highest altitude coffee terroir in the world. This complex cup starts of with strong notes of blueberry on the nose and on the tip of your tongue, quickly followed by notes of white grape, berry jam, and a hint of floralness. Soon after, subtle notes of chocolate syrup and white tea present themselves. The body is light, and the mouthfeel is creamy. It finishes smooth, with lingering notes of earl grey and toastiness. As this cup cools, notes of strawberry acidity are more present.
Shelf Life: An unopened bag will remain tasty for five months due to our processes and packaging. We remove most of the oxygen from each bag during our packaging process and replace it with food-grade nitrogen to lovingly cradle these precious beans for a long time. We use the highest quality bags with one-way valves to retain the low-oxygen environment we create and allow our coffee to off-gas naturally.
